I have just gone through the ftse 100 and only 6 stocks have support levels below their current price. The way I do things it will take at least 6 weeks for any of the 94 to form support based on their own momentum.

Llyods 22p price now 32
Scottish and Southern Energy 998p Price now 1124
Standard Chartered 374p Price now 469
Unilever 3905p price now 4136
United Utilities 744p price now 898
Reckitt Benckiser 5510p Price now 6246

Note that 4 of them are defensive stocks

Ted, the big banks are a safe long term bet because the government will not let them go broke. If the big banks go broke, there will be another Great Depression. It just won't happen.

However, remember that the price of even safe assets like the big banks could go down for years, so don't invest unless you don't need the money for months or years.

Remember everyone to keep enough cash for emergencies. Don't tie it all up.

I guess the real sign will be when bank branches don't open and ATMs stop working. They'll need to stop people sucking cash out of the system.

The ratings agencies are downgrading bonds of companies all around the world, what used to be investment grade debt in many case is becoming junk which is adding to the already bloated high-yield bond market in the US and Europe.

Whilst coronavirus may be the trigger, corporate debt will surely be the catalyst if monetary policy fails to prevent a global collapse of the financial system. Interesting times.

Are central banks up to the task?

Etf's DIG IEO XES XOP have exposure to Oil and Gas and Gas hasn't dropped much at all. So far on all of them, whilst oversold, they can stay that way for some time. I have no sign of a low yet in them, as they have to build support based on their own momentum.

On oil itself the point of most time and price in the move from the 1996 low to the all time highs is at $26.90 and has held so far on a closing basis. That is an important reference point along with 22.85.

"interesting tips" is not a pairing of words that happens that often on WHO.

That tech ETF IYW went into that zone at 184 to 177 yesterday. Tech has led the market on the way up and somewhat bizarrely, in this climate can be classed as a defensive play

Oil stocks are worth a look IMO, double whammy of the Virus and the Saudis Flooding the market, so much so they may have shot themselves in the foot!

Recover the oil price will and with some key stocks at 15 year lows, they are well worth a punt.

I reckon the FTSE will go as low as 3500 at some point in the next year and maybe even below 3000 briefly on a week when a few have jumped out the window.

I'll be stuck a few grand in on a FTSE 100 tracker at 3500 and that should keep me in beer and bog roll for a few retirement years down the track from this lunacy.

They were bragging about their £9bn cash reserves yesterday.

Not a good idea then?
